Call of Duty is one of the top-grossing entertainment franchises ever and the newest addition to the lineup is keeping the trend alive. In fact, “Call of Duty: Black Ops II“, which was just released today, has apparently smashed all of Amazon’s previous pre-order records, making it the online retailer’s most pre-ordered video game ever.
The announcement came via Twitter:
The total amount of pre-orders Amazon received has not been revealed, but there’s no denying it’s quite an accomplishment. Now, all we have left to do is hope the game lives up to all hype that’s been created thus far. Amazon’s previous pre-order record holder, if you hadn’t already guessed, was the previous game in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3.
On top of beating its own previous record, the latest installment of Call of Duty also saw more Amazon pre-orders than Microsoft and 343 Industries highly-anticipated Halo 4. I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that has something to do with the fact that Call of Duty is multi-platform, while Halo 4 is exclusive to the Xbox 360.
