Nintendo World Store Hosting 6-Hour Wii U Launch Event!

New Yorkers will be among the first in the world to purchase the Wii U console when the clock strikes midnight on November 18th at the Nintendo World Store in New York’s Rockefeller Plaza. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be on deck to count down the launch and sell a brand-new Wii U to the first costumer in line. Fans will also have a shot at grabbing “premium items.”

The event kicks off at 6pm on Saturday, November 17th and runs all the way through to midnight, when the Wii U will officially launch the next generation of home consoles.

In addition, Nintendo will also be offering up New York-themed t-shirts with Mario’s image at the event. All proceeds from the Mario swag will be donated to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts related to Hurricane Sandy.

We’ll be on the scene, snapping photos for all of you who, unfortunately, won’t be able to attend. Swing back to MTV Multiplayer after the Wii U release for all the details on the lucky fans who nabbed the first Wii U consoles sold in the U.S.!
