Welcome To Mount Massive In The Halloween 'Outlast' Trailer

Just because the asylum at Mount Massive is abandoned by its staff and patients doesn't mean that... things aren't still living there.

This is the full trailer for Red Barrels' first game, Outlast, a first person survival horror release looking to haunt your dreams sometime in 2013 for the PC. Developed by a team of Ubisoft vets who have worked on the Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed franchises, Outlast places you in the role of a journalist investigating possible corporate wrongdoing on the site of a long-abandoned but not at all empty mental institution in a story by Splinter Cell writer J.T. Petty.

From the official synopsis:

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line being science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.
