App of the Week: 'Punch Quest'

Endless runners like "Jetpack Joyride" and "Canabalt" are some the games best-suited for touch-screen devices. However, "Punch Quest," from Rocketcat Games and Madgarden, changes things up a little bit by mixing the endless runner with arcade-style punching action. The results are endlessly entertaining.

The mission is simple, you play as a lone hero running through a gauntlet of goblins, zombies, evil mages and all sorts of other fantastical baddies, punching their lights out by tapping on either the left or right side of the screen. As you progress you earn "punchos" which can be spent to customize your character or upgrade a range of new abilities, three of which can be equipped at anytime.

Featuring retro-style graphics and a boatload of unlockables, including a slew of fancy hats for your hero, Punch Quest will have you coming back again and again. There are a bunch of different enemies and bosses you'll face as you continue your quest and at times you'll even find your hero riding a giant, laser-spewing raptor.

Originality is the name of the game here and the best part is, all of the fun that "Punch Quest" delivers can be had for free! Sure, there are plenty of in-app purchases to be made, but you don't have to pay for anything to really enjoy Punch Quest – all you have to do is keep playing!
