Join ‘Earth Defense Force 2017′ On The Vita In Winter 2012

The Earth Defense Force series has become an unlikely franchise since the first one launched in Japan back in ’03. But from what I’ve heard over the years, these cheapie, alien-hunting shooters are quick, fun little games from developer Sandlot.

Now D3 is announcing that the latest entry will be making its handheld debut Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable some time this winter with four-player competitive and co-op multiplayer for the handheld, new gear, and missions.

Apparently in previous release, the Earth wasn’t suitably defended enough from the bug threat, so the developer has reintroduced the jet pack-wearing Pale Wing character to rain down death from above. D3 Publisher is promising thousand of dead bugs by the time you’re done, and more ominously, you’ll be able to “turn an entire city into dust.” Visually, the game will get a bump from its console release
