Back in July, we brought you news that Ubisoft's movie arm was planning an Assassin's Creed movie around actor Michael Fassbender. Now they've partnered up with production studio New Regency to continue the slow march to getting the eternal battle between Assassins and Templars to the big screen.
New Regency distributes their movies through twentieth Century Fox, meaning Ubisoft now at least has a firm way of getting the movie in front of eyeballs when it's ultimately completed. According to the press release, the deal allows Assassin's Creed to be fast-tracked while letting Ubisoft maintain creative control of the project.
But that's putting the cart filled with hay that you can leap of faith into before the horse, since the script is still in development, and no other talent beyond Prometheus star Fassbender has been announced as of yet.
Speaking of the Fass, he's starting to rack up franchises at this point, adding Assassin's Creed to his X-Men commitments and whatever Ridley Scott has planned for the Prometheus followup (both of those are at Fox as well).
