Free-to-Play 'Happy Wars' Crushes Xbox Live October 12th!

While free-to-play games have been dominating mobile platforms and PC for quite some time, gaming consoles have been rather shy about introducing similar titles. "Happy Wars" is going to change all that for Xbox Live Arcade and the release date has just been sent for October.

Revealed via Microsoft's playXBLA blog, "Happy Wars" will officially launch in the Xbox Live Arcade on October 12th. The 30-player online beat'em up sees two teams of players battling for spawn points while they try to defend their team's castle. Each of the three character classes offers up unique abilities and attributes and, although the game won't cost any money to play, there will be in-game items available to purchase with your hard earned dollars.

Character upgrades can be earned by collecting Happy Stars while you duke it out on the battlefield or by purchasing Happy Tickets from the in-game item store. Using these stars and tickets you'll be able to change the overall look of your character and change your character's outfit. Weapons and equipment can also be upgraded as you progress and increasing your level will earn you new skills and abilities.
