'Spy Hunter' Movie Nabs 'Zombieland' Director Ruben Fleischer

The long in development adaptation of the arcade and console game series has a new director (who's also serving as executive producer).

Fleischer is probably best known for 2009's Zombieland, a horror comedy with Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone. And while his followup, 30 Minutes or Less didn't set the world on fire, his latest, Gangster Squad has been hotly anticipated in some quarters pitting a group of tough-as-nails cops against Sean Penn's Mickey Cohen. That movie was delayed following the Aurora shootings this summer thanks to edits to a key scene involving a theater mass shooting.

Warner Brothers, who holds the rights to the Midway games, has been keen to make a movie for a few years now, after gaining the rights following the collapse of a version under director John Woo as a showcase for the Rock back in 2006. In 2010, the studio put Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson out front to direct the movie, but that effort fell through as well.

So what do you think of Warner Brothers' current choice? Are you excited about a potential Spy Hunter movie? Who should play the lead? Better still, what model car should they use?
