‘Borderlands 2′ Mechromancer Has A Name, Release Date Confirmed

We already knew the Mechromancer class would be landing as DLC shortly after Borderlands 2 hit shelves. However, unlike the other four classes, this robot-riding she-devil didn’t have a name, not to mention a firm a release date. Thankfully, that all changed today, as Gearbox has finally come off all the details for Borderlands 2’s fifth character class.

First thing’s first, the release date. As expected we won’t be waiting too long to get our hands on the Mechromancer class — she’ll be ready for all the bandit bashing we can handle on October 16th. Gearbox’s blog post also revealed the new character’s name, if you haven’t already figured that out already, it’s Gaige.

Anyone who pre-orders Borderlands 2 will gain access to the Borderlands Premiere Club, which will land you Gaige the Mechromancer for free. Those of us who decide to wait it out and grab the game on or after launch day will have to pay $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points.

Borderlands 2 hits PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 18th
