THQ Cancels Guillermo Del Toro Collaboration, 'Insane'

Filmmaker, horror buff, and all-around wonderfully energetic lunatic Guillermo Del Toro is parting ways with THQ in their joint plans to create the survival horror game Insane. As THQ tries to get its financial house in order, the still early Insane must have seemed like an attractive candidate for the chopping block as the publisher prioritizes games that might be closer to ship.

What this means is that Del Toro's got the rights to Insane and could take it to another publisher (or, you know, Kickstart the hell out of it). In the meantime, Insane joins Peter Jackson's Halo project and Spielberg's big ideas with EA on the heap of failed games-involving-filmmaker collaborations.
