Dead Space developer Visceral Games is giving mercs Alpha and Bravo another go-round with the second Army of Two sequel, coming in March of 2013.

One interesting bit that stood out in this afternoon’s Devil’s Cartel announcement: EA and Visceral are promising a “grittier” experience in the sequel than what was found in the first two co-op shooter in the series. Four years after the release of the first game, EA is still trying to downplay the bro-y image that EA Montreal-developed release earned (either fairly or no–the final game was pretty different from the fist bump-centric title promised in the early marketing). But there you go, a paragraph into a discussion of the new game and it’s hard not to bring up the perceived issues of the first.
Looking at the current title, the release says this one will return with even more co-op focused gameplay, featuring both split-screen and online team-ups. The release also touts more weapon and mask customization options to aid you in combat.
From the official story synopsis:
Players will find themselves on the deadly streets of Mexico as Alpha and Bravo, two operatives working for Tactical Worldwide Operations (T.W.O.), a PMC outfit that drops them in the middle of a drug war conflict for an assignment full of corruption and deceit. With the ability to unleash the power of ultimate destruction, players will need to work together as their objectives unravel, allegiances begin to blur and they face off against a ruthless opposition.
Right now, the 360 and the PS3 are the only announced platforms for when Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is released next March.
