Over at Xtreme PS Vita, writer Niraj Shah makes an intriguing suggestion: Sony might finally be rolling out PSOne support for the Vita next month in Colgne as part of Gamescom.
Sony previously announced that compatibility with PSOne Classics would be patched in with the 1.80 firmware update sometime between August 13th and the 19th, dates which overlap nicely with Gamescom and Sony’s presentation on the 14th.
Keep in mind, the patch would be limited in scope, meaning you wouldn’t be able to download and play all the currently available PSOne Classics on PSN; Sony’s doing a slow rollout of supported titles as Vita PSOne Classics. And if you’ve already bought a Classic that’s now PS Vita-compatible, you can download it for free after the update.
