Square Enix Confirms 'Final Fantasy Versus XIII' Is Still Happening

Late last week Kotaku reported unnamed sources had informed them that development on Final Fantasy Versus XIII had been shut down and Square Enix was just going to to let the game fade away, without making an official announcement. Turns out, to the relief of many patient gamers, that rumor wasn't true at all.

It has been six years since the game was first revealed and many people we're surprised by the possibility that Square Enix had just given up. Thankfully, Square head Yoichi Wada is an avid Twitter user and earlier today revealed that he had just come out of a meeting regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Read his tweet below...

"There's someone making a false rumor that Versus was canceled. Haha...Just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it'd knock you off your feet~lol"

I think that pretty much somes it up! Obviously if the game was canceled weeks ago they wouldn't still be holding meetings and showing off their progress. However, if the game looks as good as Yoichi Wada says, why haven't we seen or heard anything about it in so long?
