The gaming peripheral manufacturer announces Combat Pilot, a flight sim MMO constructed around Microsoft's Flight Simulator X.
More details after the jump.
The company behind some slick very slick controllers and fight sticks has announced today that their Combat Pilot is under development by ThunderHawk Studios with a planned release for sometime this summer. Think of it as a multiplayer expansion for MS's Flight Simulator, which you'll have to purchase separately.
While the release and the official site don't provide details on the total number of aircraft that will be available in the game, the combat sim will include a career mode where you'll rank up your online pilot, presumably by shooting opponents down.
Since Mad Catz is in the hardware business, I've reached out to see if this release will be accompanied by a new flight stick.
Instead of following the free-to-play model being adopted by many other new entrants into the MMO market, Mad Catz is charging $49.99 upfront which will also cover the first month's subscription. You can follow new developments for Combat Pilot and register your callsign on its official site.
