Hitman: Absolution is going make us get super sneaky if we want to reach, and dispose of, our targets without being detected. Yea, poor Lenny never even saw it coming and now he’s getting hauled off to god knows where for what we assume will be some serious interrogations. As you can see the game will require some patience and planning if you want Agent 47 to pull off the job without getting caught. We’ll have to deal with scrapyard dogs, dirty cops and the occasional innocent barber to make sure things go smoothly.
Some interesting features to note include the hint system, which is entirely configurable, point shooting, instinct and the accident prone environments. Its up to you whether to use the hints as they can be completely turned off for expert players in what Blystad and Barbour refer to as “purist mode.” Point shooting actually reminds me of the Dead Eye feature Red Dead Redemption. You won’t be able to do it all the time, but when necessary you can slow down time, mark several targets and take all of them out almost instantly. The instinct mechanic works like a sort of x-ray vision, pointing out NPCs in other rooms, but does not give you the layout of the actual room their in – you’ll have to peek around a corner to figure that out. Finally, there’s the “accidents.” What better way to finish off a target than by making it look like some sort of freak accident? Hitman: Absolution will let you do just that, if you watch the video you’ll see a few different examples.
