Activision Mobile Bringing ‘Pitfall’ to Smartphones

Though Activision may be busy bringing a certain mobile title to consoles, they’re also working on bringing a classic console title over to mobile. Yep, Pitfall turns 30 this year and it looks like Activision wants to celebrate by bringing it to smartphones.

For those of you too young to remember, way back in 1982 Pitfall was Activision’s first major release. The game appeared on a slew of classic 8-bit systems and was later remade by Activision (countless times) for other platforms. Its so old, in fact, that I remember being just a wee babe, playing it on my GRANDFATHER’S Atari.

“We’ve been working on Pitfall since earlier in the year when we set up and it has been really good to revisit that and bring it to a modern audience,” Martyn Brown, Team 17 co-founder and Activision Mobile boss told MCV. “Being able to call upon a wide portfolio of properties is really good for us and we are looking forward to finally showing it to more people.”

Pitfall, being the simple game that it was, seems like the perfect title for Activision to bring over to mobile, but there are tons of games in that back-catalog. Which would you most like to see Activision bring to our smartphones? Enduro, anyone?
