'The Walking Dead' TV Series Infecting the FPS Genre Courtesy of Activision

Terminal Reality is developing a game based on the TV show based on the comic for a 2013 release and it's going to feature rednecks Merle and Daryl.

According to a post on IGN (where you can also see a super teaser-y, no gameplay trailer), the developers behind 2009's Ghostbusters and 2005's Æon Flux games will be tackling the zombie shooter genre with The Walking Dead, which will act as a prequel to the TV series.

Norman Reedus' character Daryl and Michael Rooker's Merle were both created for the small screen, with the former becoming a breakout character in the series. The duo will have to avoid zombie detection as they make their way to Atlanta, meaning Terminal Reality's title will rely on stealth instead of run and gun fun. This Walking Dead will appropriately have a survival horror bent to it as you'll have to scrounge for scarce supplies in order to survive.

The Walking Dead will be available for the PC, PS3, and 360 sometime in 2013, and the AMC series will return in October.
