One of the most recognized names in gaming has just landed on Facebook. SimCity Social has officially launched today, allowing you and all of your friends (probably some strangers too) to work toward creating a glorious, virtual metropolis.
“SimCity Social will entice a new generation of urban planners with its easy-to-use tools that allow anyone to expand and grow their own unique sprawling metropolises and watch as it comes to life in fun and unexpected ways,” said Jami Laes, Vice President of Global Studios for Playfish. “SimCity Social is about playing with your friends. Whether you do that with kindness by helping put out a fire or through mischievous acts like helping a criminal escape, the decisions you make with your friends will determine how the story of your cities plays out.”
The game, staying pretty true to SimCity titles of the past, will feel pretty familiar to anyone who’s played SimCity before. The only huge difference here is, of course, the social gaming aspect and the fact that you won’t have to worry about your city’s electricity, water or taxes.
Over 750,000 fans have already jumped in on the action, but like other social games SimCity Social has one major flaw – your friends. If you don’t have a large group of friends that play the game you probably won’t be able to progress too far. One way around this is to friend a bunch of strangers who play, but that would leave you with all their SimCity status updates cluttering your News Feed, which can be pretty annoying.
Either way, you can head over to Facebook and check out SimCity Social for yourself right now.
