“Street Fighter X Tekken” Will Probably Be Hard to Play on Your iPhone [Screenshots]

The jewel powered fighter is heading to iOS later this summer.

Capcom, we’ve really been digging the resurgence of your console fighting game output over the last couple of years—without Street Fighter 4, there would be no new Mortal Kombat, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, or even Street Fighter X Tekken. And we are grateful that you’ve revitalized the fighter in such a big way.

But man, these mobile ports have to stop or go another way or something else entirely.

Your Marvel vs. Capcom 2 port was a test case for why these things just don’t work, an instance of the ability to port a thing, but not an actual need (my review). While the release for Street Fighter X Tekken promises the same kinds of UI and controls tailored for mobile, from the screens below it’s clear that it’ll be the same cramped fighting area, and the most challenging opponents will be our own obstructive thumbs.

Anyway, we can look forward to cursing our tiny, tiny fighters when Street Fighter X Tekken hits iOS later this summer, optimized for iOS 5 and playable on “iPhone 4 and 4S, iPod touch 4th Gen or later, iPad 2 and the New iPad.”
