Screens and a Trailer Show How the “Avengers: Battle For Earth”

Here’s that E3 teaser for the Marvel Diablo-like from Ubisoft.

Interesting note: Secret Invasion, the Marvel summer event on which Battle for Earth is based has the distinction for having one of the most promising concepts completely undone by its meandering execution and nonsensical ending*. That story involved the heroes of the Marvel U discovering that the shapeshifting Skrulls had years ago infiltrated their ranks, replacing numerous heroes in a sweeping plan to assume control of planet Earth.

This is the rough basis for the game which also features the Skrulls invading Earth and you taking on one of 20 playable characters to get the green menace off of our planet.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The ultimate super hero brawler, Marvel Avengers Battle For Earth features 20 different characters including the Avengers Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor, as well as other fan favorite super heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe. Players will use motion gameplay to execute explosive super attacks, unleash devastating special moves, and battle their friends in a wide variety of game modes.

You can check out some images from the game’s action below:

Avengers: Battle for Earth will be available for the Xbox 360 Kinect and Wii U this holiday season.

*Spoilers: Norman Osborne, the once-dead-but-not-anymore villain the Green Goblin shows up out of nowhere and saves the day by shooting the villainess, thus securing himself a position in the Obama administration. This is a thing that happened and it’s dumber than it sounds.
