"Skyrim" Gets Vampire-infested on the 360 With This Summer's "Dawnguard" Add-on

The undead seek to rule the lands of the north in Bethesda's first add-on for Skyrim, exclusive to the Xbox 360.

Vampires wanting to blot out the sun seem to be a pretty fitting way to extend the Skyrim universe. Ancient, primordial, flying ones at that.

While Bethesda hasn't provided any official story details to accompany today's trailer for the "Dawnguard" DLC, we can certainly infer a bit about it. First off, the titular group seems to be a group of soldiers dedicated to killing vampires and the bloodsuckers aren't too happy about it. Based on the contents of the trailer, you'll be choosing a side in the conflict, though, playing as a member of the Watch or feeding on the living (and possibly getting the winged vampire form to boot). The contents of the video also hint at travel between Skyrim and shadowy other worlds, along with mounted combat and crossbows.

The whole thing kicks off after you return a vampire noble's daughter to him, and it looks like the main conflict will be over the Elder Scrolls themselves, which "Dawnguard's" vampire heavy seems to think will grant him all kinds of next-level, sun-blotting power.

The "Dawnguard" DLC will cost 1600 MS Points and is coming your way sometime this summer. Bethesda promises more information during E3 about the upcoming DLC, and we'll be sure to bring it to you as soon as more information is available.
