Disruptor Beam developing a social game based on the series in a partnership with HBO.
There will come a point where there are more Game of Thrones games in development than rulers vying for the crown of George R.R. Martin's kingdom of Westeros. The current contender is an upcoming Facebook game from Disrutpor Beam, whose previous credits include 50 Cent's Blackjack.
The Massachusetts-based developer is hoping to capture the sex, violence, and intrigue of the HBO series and the novels on which they're based in a social game where players will take on the role of a noble who chooses an allegiance with one of the seven great houses and proceeds to murder and betray their way to the top by acquiring property and creating alliances. According the the press release, the game will include elements of strategy in what they describe as a "story-driven game."
From the press release:
“Everyone at Disruptor Beam was a huge fan of Game of Thrones long before we began working on the game, so we recognize that other fans expect character-driven conflict and intrigue to take center stage in our new game. Westeros is the perfect setting to deliver on our vision of weaving stories through decisions and social interactions,” said Jon Radoff, CEO of Disruptor Beam. “Game of Thrones Ascent will bring the world of Westeros to the over 500 million social game players in the market today, featuring original artwork in a highly engaging game experience that is, most importantly, fun for fans and their friends!”
No word as of yet on a release date, but Disruptor Beam invites the curious to watch their site for more news and information.
