Meth, Gang Wars, Gun-Running, and Family Drama: FX is Working on a "Sons of Anarchy" Game

The FX series' showrunner takes to Twitter to announce that a game featuring SAMCRO is early in development.

For a while there, it looked like we were due for some kind of browser-based, social game based on the FX networks series, Sons of Anarchy. But the show's creator, Kurt Sutter simply wasn't into the limited experience being put together by the game's unnamed developer. Meaning that some time in the future, we'll have a full-fledged Sons of Anarchy game to look forward to.

The series stars Charlie Hunnam, Katey Segal, and Ron Perlman, and the overarching story involves the SAMCRO biker club's attempts to control the flow of drugs, guns, and general sundry crime in their southern California town. It's kind of an inter-generational deconstruction of the biker lifestyle, portraying them at once as loyal family and brothers in arms with a complicated relationship with their violent, grimy lives. Think of it as The Sopranos on two wheels, and you get an idea of what the show is like.

The show's basic action—controlling territory, fending off rival gangs—lends itself perfectly to gameplay, but the real trick will be capturing the drama of the source material, which digs really deep into the interpersonal relationships between the members of SAMCRO and the civilians around them.
