‘Resident Evil 6’ Pushed Up To October And More From Capcom’s Captivate Showcase

Chris and Leon will be on your game boxes a month and a half earlier than originally announced, Capcom’s taking a third stab at its mechs against giant bugs series, with the official reveal of Lost Planet 3, and Devil May Cry gets a new trailer.

First up, the big news: Resident Evil 6 is shifting from its November 20th release date up a few weeks to October 2nd, moving the sequel out of the holiday shopping release window. Now it’s up against Aliens: Colonial Marines which is coming from Gearbox a week earlier and Bioshock Infinite which drops on October 16th.

During the event, Capcom also announced that Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita will be getting cross-platform play over Wi-Fi and 3G. It remains to be seen if this is the optimal way for a precision move-based fighter to be played against opponents who might be rocking the latest fighting stick (or at least a heartier gamepad than the one of the Vita).

Next up, DmC got a new action-trailer that shows Dante taking on the media:

Finally, Lost Planet 3 is on target to be a 2013 release for Capcom. Including a new trailer and screes, we also have some story details for the action sequel:

The extreme and unpredictable conditions that characterized the Lost PlanetĀ® series return, harsher than ever before in Lost Planet 3. Players take on the role of Jim, a utility rig pilot who has left Earth to take on a hazardous but lucrative contract on E.D.N. III. Delivering a diverse range of gameplay, including third-person on-foot battles and intense first-person utility rig action, players will need to brave the uncharted terrain, hostile climate and threat of indigenous Akrid creatures. With a number of multiplayer modes and a compelling single player experience, Lost Planet 3 will delve deeper into the Lost Planet universe, uncovering hidden truths when it releases in early 2013.
