Still without a release date for sometime later this year, we've got some new screens from Capcom and Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot, featuring a much younger take on the series' stylish hero, Dante.
Commence admiration or continue gnashing of teeth after the jump.
The new images show off new Dante in action against a group of the game's shadowy enemies in what I can assume is part of the is-he-crazy-or-isn't-he plot. While I can understand some gamers' kneejerk rejection of the new look initially, it's more than grown on me in the months since Capcom and Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory first unveiled it. It's not the Dante we know, but it's an interpretation of the character that could easily grow into the one with which we've grown familiar over the years.
Accompanying the new images, Capcom passed along new details about Dante's backstory: With no word of Dante's father, the demon Sparda, or Dante's brother, Vergil, it seems that our hero is an orphan who eked out a life on the streets getting into fights in between stints in institutions and orphanages run by sadistic demons.
So there's that.
DmC: Devil May Cry is coming sometime later this year.
