CES 2012: Mad Catz Brings A Pro Controller, An MMO Mouse, and Custom Fight Sticks To The Table

By Kevin Kelly

Mad Catz wants to claw its way into your gamespace again, this time bringing with it a pro controller, new fight sticks, and a mouse that will make MMO players drool.

First up is the MLG Pro Circuit Controller, with "tournament grade components" that let you customize the entire look and feel of the controller. You can change the side, the thumbsticks, the d-pad and more, giving you a custom look and feel to what you bring to the game. Available for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, it comes in a custom carrying case that also holds the additional parts. It's like bringing your own customized pool cue to the tournament and intimidating everyone. That is, if you play pool.

“The MLG Pro Circuit Controller with its tournament grade components and ProModule system has been very well received by the pro gaming community.” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. “We anticipate the MLG Pro Circuit Controller will be the weapon of choice for the most demanding gamer and professional player.”

Mad Catz' Cyborg line of PC gaming peripherals has been growing by leaps and bounds, and they recently announced an MMO version of their popular Cyborg mouse line. The M.M.O.7 allows you to customize the 13 buttons, has six programmable modes, a 6400DPI twin-eye sensor, and "Actionlock" left and right buttons that can be locked into place so you don't wear your finger out holding them down. It works with both Mac and PC platforms, and even features a custom in-game World of Warcraft interface that allows you to customize the mouse on the the fly.

“The new Cyborg M.M.O.7 demonstrates our continued commitment to growing our Cyborg brand by developing innovative products for passionate consumers.” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. “The Cyborg M.M.O.7 is part of our continuing initiative of building our portfolio of evergreen products that do not need to be reinvented every year.”

And finally, fight sticks. If you're a fighting game addict, you need one of these in your wheelhouse to give you that true arcade feel while you're whomping on an opponent. At CES, Mad Catz introduced fight sticks and a fight pad for Street Fighter X Tekken as well as a custom Soulcalibur V fight stick, giving you plenty to choose from. The SFXT sticks and pad should launch alongside the game on March 6, and they expect the Soulcalibur stick to launch with that game as well.

What's nifty about the Street Fighter X Tekken sticks is that they feature genuine Sanwa Denshi arcade components, and the the unique chassis allows gamers to join two sticks together via the Arcade FightStick V.S. Connector Kit (sold separately) for a "highly realistic arcade presentation." By which they mean "You're going to have one gigantic fight stick with two fighting stations on it in your living room."

“We are excited to support the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises with our new range of fighting game controllers.” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. “Our new V.S. FightStick and FightPad demonstrate our ability to continue innovating in this category and we believe that the fighting game community will react enthusiastically to our new product designs.”
