The first content drop is on the way January 24th. What's Activision got planned?
As Don told us a few weeks back, the nine full months of consecutive Modern Warfare 3 DLC begins on January 24th with the first of two new multiplayer maps: Piazza and Liberation.
Here's the word on the maps from Activision PR:
Liberation is a vast, militarized landscape, ripe for long-range sniper and LMG fire, with mounted turrets on either end that lend power to anyone brave enough to expose themselves in exchange for deadly firepower.
Piazza is the idyllic Italian getaway that is anything but, where tight corners and branching pathways pose great risk at every turn. Close-range combat dominates in Piazza, where attacks from behind, above and below are an ever-constant threat.
Of course, of you're a Call of Duty Elite member, you'll be getting these maps immediately on the 24th, with non-Elite members getting them sometime down the line. All together, a total of 20 pieces of DLC are planned throughout the game's nine month "season."
Apparently, this is the first of five planned pieces of DLC planned for the first three months of the year, the first two being new maps that are playable in Survival Mode. Liberation and Piazza represent the first two pieces of content with a third planned for sometime in mid-February with two more planned for March which will also see the release of the Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection which will contain all of the content released to date. Activision's also planning some contests throughout the year for "real-world prizes," so look out for that too.
