Unless a ton of games suddenly get delayed in the next month or so, we're going to have a very busy holiday season. Plenty of franchises are getting new installments, from "The Elder Scrolls" to "Batman" to "Assassin's Creed." If you're the nostalgic sort, all these new fangled games might frighten and confuse you. You're comforted by the familiar, by games you've played fifty times over. It's just for your nostalgic folks that Capcom is releasing "Resident Evil 4 HD" and "Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD" in September.
"Resident Evil 4 HD" is scheduled for release on September 20 and "Code Veronica X HD" will drop a week later, on September 27. Each game will be downloadable over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network for a price of $20.
In terms of upgrades, it's really just on the visual side, as the graphics have been boosted to HD. They're not complete overhauls, though, so "Code Veronica X" (pictured) isn't going to look nearly as pretty as "Resident Evil 5." But hey, that's the price you pay for being a fan of old things.
If the experience of saving the president's daughter all over again isn't reason enough to pick up these games, Capcom has also added achievement and trophy support, with a full 1000 gamerscore points and a bunch of bronze, silver and gold trophies for you to collect. The achievement lists do feel a tad lazy, but hey, it's better than nothing.
Since it looks like we'll have to wait until at least the end of 2012 for the next true "Resident Evil" sequel, these re-releases should do in a pinch.
