It's amazing to think that "American McGee's Alice" came out more than a decade ago. Its particular blend of third-person action has only grown in popularity since then; just imagine what the game would look like now! On consoles! You don't have to of course, since "Alice: Madness Returns" is coming in June. In an awesome -- and completely expected -- twist though, console gamers will get their crack at the original thanks to a port and a download code that will reportedly come with the game.
McGee said as much in a recent interview with CVG. "There's... going to be pretty significant release which is the original 'Alice' brought over to the consoles so that a person who's purchased 'Madness Returns' gets a download code and is able to bring Alice 1 onto their console and play through the entire original game alongside playing 'Madness Returns.'"
While McGee doesn't specify, I would bet large sums of money that the download code will be some kind of pre-order exclusive. After all, why give something away for free when you can... not. If that turns out to be the case, the original "Alice" will almost certainly be sold for download as well. Again, why go to the trouble of doing a port if you're not going to make money from it.
McGee also mentioned plans for supporting "Madness Returns" with downloadable content. "There will be DLC in the form of dresses that the player can download and Alice can wear," he said. "Those dresses come with special abilities and enhance how you play through the game."
