"Dead Island" continues to gather momentum as more details on the open world, co-op-oriented zombie survival game emerge. A little bit of info emerged last month on the game's four playable characters and special zombies. Today colors in some more detail on one of those characters, washed-up rapper Sam B.
Sam has come to the Royal Palms Resort Hotel in the hopes of returning to some of his former glory. He is actually on stage preparing to perform his old hit, "Who Do You Voodoo" when things start to get crazy with the walking corpses and the widespread mayhem.
A press release describes Sam: "One strong, self-confident and proud, Sam B has had a troubled past and a history of drug and alcohol abuse, as his private life became caught in a haze of fake friends and bad advisors. Trying to pick up the pieces and earn some extra cash, he suddenly finds himself surrounded by a whole lot of different problems...."
A pair of new screens add additional detail (check one out here and head over to OXM for the other, along with some concept art), including one of the rapper wielding a flaming Molotov cocktail.
"Dead Island" was first announced quite awhile ago, but it popped back into the gaming hivemind in February when Techland released a disturbing cinematic trailer featuring a doomed family. They won't be your playable characters.
Expect to hear plenty more around E3 this June, as the "Dead Island" is currently set to arrive sometime in late summer or early fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows platforms.
