‘Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair’ To Get ‘Symphony Of The Night’ DLC

Konami’s “Castlevania: Harmony of Despair” grew from a rumor into a real, downloadable Xbox Live Arcade title this year, and its makers have more plans for it in 2011. They’re even going to be selling new levels as DLC over XBLA, including some additional repurposed fun from “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.”

The underground “Symphony” level, which features the big baddie Legion as its boss will arrive for Japanese users in January, according to an update on Konami.jp (via Joystiq). It will cost 320 Microsoft points, as will another release, titled “Lord of the Flies” that’s also tagged for January.

North American releases haven’t been announced yet, but if Konami’s going to put these levels together, they might as well share the love around the world.

Frankly, I’m not all that impressed with their price points for this content. $4 for a single eighth level to stack on top of a core game that by itself costs $15 seems a little excessive, especially considering much of the design work was already done. Maybe there’s something I’m missing in the translation there, but simple math doesn’t make me want to drop 320 MS points on this map.

Granted, “Symphony of the Night” has run up some high eBay invoices in its time, so I’m open to the possibility that Konami weighed historical market and demand highs when they finalized this decision.
