Spike TV's 2010 Video Game Awards, which air live this Saturday, December 11, have been stirring up reports and rumors of new game debuts for a few weeks now. Guillermo del Toro's THQ project entered the fray last month, and "Batman: Arkham City" followed soon thereafter. Now, Geoff Keighley's revealed that "Thor: God of Thunder" will be showing off a first look, and "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" voice actor and "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris has been announced as the event's host.
Comedian Dane Cook, and "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth will also be making VGA appearances, according to an Associated Press report (via the Wall Street Journal), and if that's still not enough star power for you, Tony Hawk and a delegation from "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" including Danny Devito, Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney are slated to be there too.
Spike's got a "Thor" teaser up on their site that'll give you a quick glance at what's coming on that front. Hemsworth's likeness will be throwing Mjolnir around in Sega's new game, though we don't yet know how much swinging, singing and/or dancing NPH has in store. His 2010 Academy Awards and 2009 Emmy Awards appearances showed that he can command a stage with the best, and hey, given that the Spider-Man musical recently debuted on Broadway, maybe there's a chance he'll be inspired to put on a mask and belt out a tune. You'll have to watch to find out how things go down.
Do you think NPH will make a suitable host for the VGA's? What are you most looking forward to for the show? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.
