Starting today in "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions," you'll no longer need to track down a copy of "What If...?" #31 to find out what would have happened if Spidey had kept his Captain Universe look. You may need to cough up 240 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live or $2.99 on the PlayStation Network, however.
The existing Amazing, Noir, 2099 and Ultimate variations of Spider-Man in "Shattered Dimensions" will each be getting a cosmic outfit and a new signature charge attack, according to an announcement from Activision. The DLC should currently be purchasable for the 360 ahead of its appearance on the PlayStation 3 next week.
The press release didn't say anything about plans to put the cosmic costumes out for the yet-to-be-released Windows PC edition of "Shattered Dimensions," though I don't know why Activision wouldn't want to make that happen down the road.
Marvel's reaching into territory that hasn't been covered in comics before by cross-pollinating the cosmic concept with all of four of this game's web-slinger incarnations, which is great. At this rate, my fondest hope is that the next DLC they put out there will allow you to play as a noir cosmic 2099 version of Spider-Man the Transformer with the added ability of converting your hero into a cosmically charged, dark-and-gritty futuristic motorcycle with guns. That right there is a DLC sales record waiting to happen.
Do you think you'll give the new cosmic outfits a try in "Shattered Dimensions"? Are there any other Spider-Man costumes that you think need to be made available? Share your suggestions with us in the comment section below.
