Nathan Fillion Wants To Play Nathan Drake In Russell's 'Uncharted' Film

The original "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" leading man Nolan North wanted Hugh Jackman to portray Nathan Drake in the film adaptation, and now that David O. Russell is locked in to direct, the search is on. "Halo 3: ODST" star Nathan Fillion has his eyes on the part now, however, and he wants to start a movement.

"If ever there was a Twitter campaign, let this be it," Fillion wrote on his Twitter account Saturday. "Rise, ye Browncoats. Rise, ye Castillions. RISE!"

His message was followed by a link to a Deadline article and comment thread, where he encouraged his "Firefly" and "Castle" fans to mention his name. Unsurprisingly, many of them did, and it's now pretty much impossible to wade through the comments there without knowing that an organized Internet delegation wants Fillion cast in the movie.

And Russell could do a lot worse than Fillion if he and his casting team are looking around. He's got the personality and the look to carry the part, and most importantly to the studio he has a well-documented history of geek cred and video game interest. Never mind the fact that he already shares a first name with the story's hero.

If the producers like him as much as his fans seem to, it's entirely possible he could become the Betty White of video game movie casting history.

Do you think Nathan Fillion would make a serviceable Nathan Drake? Is there someone you'd rather see in the role? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.
