'Gears of War 3' Still Delayed, But Holding A Multiplayer Beta

Multiplayer betas are all the rage these days for companies looking to open up and foster generate good will among gamers. "Medal of Honor" gave it a go, even if military stores still aren't stocking the title, and now Epic Games has decided to put out a beta after news broke that their sequel has been pushed past its original April launch date and into the 2011 holiday season.

The start date and modes that will be included haven't been named, but the dev team wants to keep everyone guessing, according to an update on the official "Gears of War" site. The news came alongside confirmation that "GoW3" will be equipped with dedicated servers, which should please many a fan.

"In addition to a swath of online code improvements, we're bringing dedicated servers to 'Gears of War 3' to drive a balanced, optimized, and thrilling online experience for Gearheads everywhere," another update on the site explained.

As for how you'll be able to access the beta, what you'll be able to do and how soon you should even start thinking about in order avoid giving yourself an aneurysm from impatience, settle down, take a deep breath and stayed tuned, because Epic says that more information will be released for all the world to see in the very near future.
