Capcom offered a taste of what "Mega Man Universe" will be like in their last trailer for the game, but this week they put the spotlight on gameplay at long last. At least three editions of the Blue Bomber appeared in various peeks at the title, and all of them come tagged with a Ryu tease at the end.
"I can imagine that a lot of people who saw the first 'Mega Man Universe' trailer are confused and wondering how this game will play since that trailer didn't reveal much," Capcom global head of research and development Keiji Inafune said in a translated and subtitled introduction. "Now, I'm here to clear up the confusion. We'd like to show the first playable video and this time you will see more of how 'Mega Man Universe' actually works. I hope this video gets you excited and has you looking forward to more."
You have to appreciate Capcom's sense of humor with the last one there. I loved the art they put together for "Mega Man 9" and "Mega Man 10," but it's nice to know they can laugh about differences between box art and in-game depictions of their characters.
I'm not sure how I feel about the rendered look for Mega Man yet, but the world designs and motion look traditional enough. I am anxious to see what happens if Mega Man X's hadouken (assuming he's in there) and Ryu's hadouken collide though. Is one more powerful than the other?
