Hulu Plus Only Requiring PlayStation Plus Accounts During Preview Period

When Hulu rolled out its new Hulu Plus service details last week, a few PlayStation 3 owners' ears perked up to figure out whether or not they would need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus as well as Hulu Plus to enjoy its benefits.
"With the launch of Hulu Plus there have been many rumors started and we are trying our best to remedy the situation," Hulu said in a statement to Joystiq. "Specifically to your question, the Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period."
Exactly how long the preview period lasts and how many PlayStation Plus invitees will get access before the new Hulu app goes public are a bit of an enigma. Still, not hinging their service to a PS Plus subscription is bound to make a few friends for Hulu. Netflix has already been on the system since late last year, and they didn't arrive with any extra fees in tow. Furthermore, the lack of a Gold account barrier added a nice bit of free functionality to the console when compared to the two subscriptions required for the same service on the Xbox 360.
