The release date for “Need For Speed: World” is right around the corner on July 20, which makes now the perfect time for EA to work out the last of the game’s kinks via an open beta test. That test is scheduled to be signing in users as of 10:00AM PST today, so if that’s something you want to be a part of, you may want to get behind the wheel soon, so to speak.
The beta will be taking new applicants though the game’s official website at World.NeedforSpeed.com. As of about 9:30AM PST, the site seems to be down from where I’m sitting, but if they’re gearing up for some new bells, whistles and server issues there, they may be rebooting a few things.
EA already held a closed beta, which, according to Eurogamer, will carry users’ info on over into the open phase, which lasts until an unspecified time on March 5.
Since “World” will be the first MMO in the Need for Speed series, longtime followers of the franchise may want to check the beta out if they can get in. It never hurts to try before you buy, after all, even if you crash into a bug or two.
