Activision-Blizzard could see their wish for console price cuts fulfilled by the end of 2010 if a mystery source in publishing knows what they're talking about. Slashes to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 price tags are reportedly already in the works, with announcements planned for as early as E3, and Nintendo may not be far behind, being forced to compete with Sony's Move.
The advance info came from an unnamed senior global publishing source, according to MCV. The anonymous nature of the tip makes it a bit suspect, but the source has reportedly been mapping out his or her own company's financial projections based on these expectations, so someone somewhere has enough faith in this info's credibility to make decisions with real money.
You be the judge, though. A new PS3 marked significantly under $300 could just be the result of some informed fanciful thinking, but it may also be a reality sometime this year. And even if it isn't, we should all be able to dream about such wonderful things. Such moves would make for a lot of happy wallets.
