The above image, originally posted on Kotaku, was apparently taken by someone at GameStop. It's the artwork that's used on empty boxes to encourage pre-orders before a game releases, and this artwork points to what appears to be the next "Assassin's Creed" title (which is scheduled for a 2010 release). The title is "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood," and it stars Ezio, alongside his band of merry assassins.
For those that managed to finish "Assassin's Creed 2," you'd know that the game ends with a brief glimpse at Rome. "Brotherhood" will focus on Rome, with this info appearing on the box art:
Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order. Lead your own brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy. Rome.
The box goes on to describe an innovative new multiplayer mode with customizable assassins.
Ubisoft has been trying to slowly release hints about the next game via Facebook, but this unofficial shot seems to have let the cat out of the bag. While there's a slight chance that this is an incredibly intricate fake, my money's on this being a legit first look at the next "Assassin's Creed" game, coming later this year.
