Apple’s iPad launches on Saturday, but publications are already spilling the beans about whether this is the next big thing in the tech world. Several reviews have been unleashed on the world, with the general response being positive, if wary, about the iPad’s impact on the world at large.
The NY Times review discusses the viability of the iPad as a consumption device, but mentions that it’s not as good at “creating stuff.”
The USA Today review pegs the new iPad as “a winner,” saying it stacks up well against Amazon’s Kindle and handheld gaming devices.
The PC Magazine review also called the iPad “a winner,” saying that the user interface and variety of apps is ideal for just about any user.
The Boing Boing review focused on the crisp visuals and speedy processor of the iPad.
The Chicago Sun Times review applauded Apple for its constant drive to “actually invent things.” The reviewer went on to say that the “iPad is the best computer in my household and office menagerie. It’s not a replacement for my notebook, mind you. It feels more as if the iPad is filling a gap that’s existed for quite some time.”
