Accomplished video game voice actor Nolan North doesn't expect to reprise his role as Nathan Drake in an "Uncharted" feature film adaptation, but that doesn't mean he hasn't considered candidates to take his place. According to North, who played Drake in both "Uncharted" and this month's "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves," Hugh Jackman should be first in line to be Drake in theaters.
"Jackman is who I'd like to see," North told the Official Playstation Magazine UK podcast. "I think the producers would like to see Jackman too, because he has that tough guy exterior."
The doesn't mean North wouldn't like a shot, though. Quite to the contrary, he would love to transition over to the big screen. But he sounded confidently pessimistic about that prospect.
"I’ve done film and television and I understand the reality of the business,” he explained.
Jackman, who comes with with a hefty cache of box office success stories from his "X-Men" films as Wolverine, certainly meets all the criteria a new action/adventure movie would have for a starring role. North credits the Australian actor's unique talents and traits as clinchers.
"There's also a lot going on behind his eyes," North said. "A lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior, and he has great comic timing."
Do you agree with North that Jackman should get the lead role in an "Uncharted" film? Who else do you think would be right for the part? Share your proposals in the comment section below.
