'DJ Hero 2' To Feature DJ Qbert?

Jay-Z, Eminem, Daft Punk and the late DJ AM are all slated to appear in "DJ Hero" when the game launches on October 30th, but Activision may already be hunting names to a appear in "DJ Hero 2." FreeStyleGames has reportedly already engaged at least one independent UK-based games developer, as well as turntablism visionary DJ Qbert, to collaborate on the the series' unannounced follow-up.

Though Qbert's name does not appear on any of tracks found on "DJ Hero," his name is on the top of FreeStyleGames' list for its sequel, according to GamesIndustry.biz, who point out that producing a successful franchise with "DJ Hero" will be part of Activision's broader plan to reach out to non-guitar-rock music fans, as well as the rich following of DJ, club and house music fans in Europe.

Furthermore, the DJ Hero controller is a complex piece of work that is not functional with other games, so Activision will want to have something ready for players to use when they've exhausted the Achievements list for the game.

Qbert would make a lot of sense for "DJ Hero 2." Not only does his name speak to gamers; he's also contributed to existing games like "Tony Hawk's Underground" and "Marvel Vs. Capcom 2." That's all in addition to his award-winning career as a DJ and equipment designer.
