'The Beatles: Rock Band' Midnight Launch Event

At midnight, certain retailers started selling copies of "The Beatles: Rock Band" to the slavering masses. So, to see just how slavering the masses could be, I went over to GameStop's flagship location in New York City's Herald Square.

On an overcast night in the city, when the weather felt more like October than September, folks lined up around the block to snag an early copy of "The Beatles: Rock Band." Seems that the majority of the purchases have been on the 360, but the Wii and PS3 have also seen their fair share. As for Special Edition purchasers, a handful here and there, but for the most part it's been individual copies of the game (since it works with the instruments from past "Rock Band" titles).

All told, it was about a dozen people that came out late on a Tuesday night to score a copy of the game. The first person in line, one Steven Tartaglia, had been there since 9:30PM and said that he'd be picking up the game (on 360) and John Lennon's Rickenbacker guitar controller. He also mentioned that the song he's most looking forward to playing is "Helter Skelter."

Here are some of the shots from the line. We'll have video early tomorrow morning, if you prefer your media in moving picture format.
