"Halo 3: ODST" is sorta a big deal, and not just in The States! Apparently the French are also big fans of all things Bungie. Their enthusiasm is such that some French retailers have already started selling the game, almost a month before they were supposed to.
Microsoft is on the case, telling Kotaku that they are "investigating a very small breach in our distribution process around the early delivery of 'Halo 3: ODST' units."
They went on to say that they'd investigate any users with "Halo 3: ODST" in their Played Games list, but will only punish those who got the game through illegitmate means. So if you were one of the lucky few that got the game legitimately, you should be able to play online without fear of reprisal. French retailers, on the other hand...
Even though MS has said that they won't persecute legit players, would you risk getting the Xbox Live ban hammer by playing "ODST" so early?
consaw @multiplayers I have no real desire to be the first. So I think i can wait a couple more weeks.
t_tocs @multiplayers if I bought it legally, yes. Not my fault that they didn't handle the distribution of the game correctly.
denright @multiplayers No! My friends wouldn't have it yet so what's the point?
Cronotriggers @multiplayers if that possibly meant gambling away my Netflix Instant Play access, then no way, no how. Halo's cool, but not THAT cool
Zeouterlimits @multiplayers Not online. Would definetely play the campaign and local Firefight. Would be fantastic!
