Game Diary - January 29, 2009: Pssst... "Killzone 2"

What can I say? I started "Killzone 2" last night on my PS3, but my impressions of the game are embargoed until next week. So my conundrum is as follows:

I barely played any of the first "Killzone," so I'm not sure how exactly to compare this sequel to the original effort. Instead, I'm stuck comparing it to games like "Resistance 2" (another Sony-exclusive first-person-shooter), "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" (one of the few games that has comparably impressive graphics) and "Gears of War 2" (another game that emphasizes cover in its encounters).

Because this is an FPS that offers the ability to take cover in first-person I should also try... "Quantum of Solace"? I have that game but can't remember how it's cover worked.

If any diary readers were aficionados of the first "Killzone," I hope you'll let me know what I should be looking for in the sequel insofar as how it compares to what the developers of the original accomplished or failed to do.
