Opening Our Mystery Mail - Episode 2 (Hint: 'Gears' Inside)

Back by popular demand... What could be in the boxes and envelopes that came in the mail for me today?

Box #1 looks like a pizza box. But I know it isn't (the label on the outside says it contains "Singstar".)

Box #2 is from Microsoft. I predict "Gears of War 2" plus ridiculous swag.

Box #3 is from Atlus. I have no idea what it would be. It's accompanied by envelopes from EA (beta tape, I think) and Activision ("Spider-Man: Web of Shadows" is my guess.)

As I did before, I'm writing this post live. See below as we discover together what is really in these boxes.

Box #1 did not contain pizza, as I thought! It has three "SingStar" games, a "Country" version and a "Legends" version for PS2. "Legends" lets you karaoke with videos from everyone from Biz Markie to Whitney Houston. The PS3 disc is a track pack. Fun fact: the UPC code is slashed on the PS3 box, to prevent scurrilous reporters from trying to sell this stuff back to stores. And it all comes with the perfect (?) promo item for "SingStar": a messenger bag.

Box #2 has... "Gears of War 2." It also has "Gears of War 2" the artbook and "Gears of War 2" The Hooded Sweatshirt, "Gears of War 2" The Artbook, "Gears of War 2" The Comic Book, "Gears of War 2" The Red Xbox 360 Controller, and -- of course! --  "Gears of War 2" The Messenger Bag. (Oh, and "Gears of War 2"The Embargo, which prohibits impressions and reviews until November 3.)

Box #3 and assorted envelopes contain "Master of the Monster Lair" (a DS game that was alone in that box -- strange packaging choice), a beta type of "FIFA '09" footage and three copies of "Spider-Man: Web of Shadows."

I promise that I did not peek. I did not use an X-ray machine. I just predicted the contents perfectly. Hooray for me!
