In times past, when confusion clouded my head, I turned to you, the readers, to tell me if a Japanese role-playing game re-make was worth my time. I'm doing it again.
Among the games that were awaiting me in their FedEx packages when I returned to the office today for the first time in almost a week was "Star Ocean: First Departure" for the PSP. It's a re-make of the first "Star Ocean," which I have not played.
I'm perpetually an RPG skeptic, but I always want to find ones that I can like. Bearing in mind that I am a huge fan of the gameplay and story of "The World Ends With You," "Suikoden V," and the GBA and GameCube "Mario" RPGs -- but thought "Final Fantasy: Crisis Core," "FFX" and "Kingdom Hearts 2" were a snooze -- would I like this game?
Sell me on it in 50 words or less.
And for the record, "Stick to 'Halo,' stupid MTV man," counts as six words. Thanks!
