Activision Sidesteps ‘Call of Duty’ PS3 Beta Question [Update]

UPDATE: This story was originally entitled: “Activision Says ’Call of Duty’ PS3 Beta Details ’Coming Soon’.” But Activision has informed us that their statement may have been premature. All details about any betas for “Call of Duty,” including an answer to whether there will be a PS3 beta or not, will be released at a later date.

If you took today’s news at its word, PlayStation 3 owners were being left out of the “Call of Duty: World at War” multiplayer beta.

Xbox 360 and PC players are allowed access in October. Last year, only Xbox 360 gamers were allowed access to the “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” multiplayer beta.

But Sony fans need not panic just yet. MTV Multiplayer asked Activision whether PS3 “Call of Duty” fans were being left in the cold, and were told to be a little more patient.

“We will have more information on that coming soon,” said a company representative.

While not a definitive answer just yet, it does provide some hope for non-Xbox 360, non-PC shooter fans in search of new perks.
