'Star Wars: Episode VII' Story Rumors Come Straight From Expanded Universe

Star Wars

Things have gone fairly smoothly thus far in the brave new world of Disney-owned "Star Wars." "Star Trek Into Darkness" finally came out, freeing up J.J. Abrams, who looks on-target to start filming early next year and possibly meet the 2015 release date that was announced last fall.

All of this has happened without so much of a peep about what the heck the thing will be about, other than knowing that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are all likely to return, but now a small rumor making the rounds suggests what the main story line for the new trilogy will be.

According to an anonymous tipster via YouTube critic Schmoes Know, a casting notice has gone out from the Abrams camp complete with a story breakdown, which you can check out after the jump!

Storyline: Two 17 year old twins, a girl and a boy, are trained by their uncle Luke to be the greatest Jedi’s in the galaxy. Problems arise when the male twin turns to the dark side.

Jaina Solo – Female, 17 years old, lead. – Jacen’s twin sister, one of the greatest Jedi’s in the galaxy, trained by her uncle Luke Skywalker

Jacen Solo – Male, 17 years old, lead – Jaina’s twin brother, one of the greatest Jedi’s in the world. A loner who is constantly struggling with the idea of what’s right and what’s wrong. Starts to turn to the dark side. Full of conviction that what he is doing is the “right thing”. Will eventually become Darth Caedus.

If this all sounds familiar to you, it's because you've spent some time in the "Star Wars" Expanded Universe, specifically the Thrawn trilogy and the "Legacy of the Force" series, which feature Jaina and Jacen Solo, the twin children of Leia and Han.

This rumor is highly suspect because of how directly it pulls from the "Legacy of the Force" and the Expanded Universe in general, something we've been led to believe would not be done for the new trilogy, if I'm not mistaken.

So for now, I wouldn't bet on any of this, but who knows? Until Lucasfilm opens up and we see casting begin, anything could happen.
